18/10/08 - REPORT North Walsham Raiders 87 - Norwich 2nds 0

With a mid week call off by Havant North Walsham Raiders were delighted when Norwich made contact seeking a fixture for their second string. Unfortunately for the visitors they found the Raiders in uncompromising mood and were subjected to a thirteen try drubbing yet there was no trace of dissent in their ranks, nor a hint of surrender.

With the Warriors game also called off Walsham fielded a good mix of youth and experience and it was one of the youngsters, centre Jack Dove who got the scores moving with two tries within the first eight minutes. His brace were followed at regular intervals by touchdowns from Lee Sandberg (2) Josh Goldspink, Al Turner, Soul Phoenix and Shane van Vuraan, the last following a superb run and pop pass from Karl Rumsby.

Norwich tightened their defence and Walsham had to fight harder for their scores in the second period. Diminutive winger Will Quinn was first to score, centre Paul Parkin and flanker Ricky Howlett were quick to follow his lead before Aki Downing, playing only his fifth game of Union having moved South from League territory touched down and the final score followed a break from Parkin and his well timed pass was taken at speed by Rumsby who was unstoppable. Outside half Justin Loveridge who with Lee Sanderg kept a stream of well directed passes to the backs added 11 conversions.
